Pole to Pole Expedition: A Look Inside the Modified Nissan Ariya

With its rugged exterior fit, raised suspension and flared wheel arches, the modified Nissan Ariya is primed for a journey no car has ever undertaken before. For Chris and Julie Ramsey, a model that is sufficiently versatile to brave blizzards, heatwaves and everything in between is a necessity as they journey on the unprecedented route from the magnetic North Pole to the South Pole. Alongside Arctic Trucks, specialists in polar expedition vehicles, the Pole to Pole team have adapted the Ariya to succeed in all weathers.

Staying true to its original design, the modifications have been intentionally minimal, maintaining most of the Ariya's trademark features – such as its battery-electric powertrain and all-wheel drive system, e-4ORCE. Alongside a stunning exterior design and a welcoming lounge-like interior, the vehicle has been fitted with a built-in espresso machine to keep British adventurer, Chris and his wife Julie in the necessary comfort on their journey to reach the South Pole. The journey the Ramsey's will undertake shows the incredible true potential of all Ariya's – regardless of the climate.
