LEAF 10 Year Anniversary!
When a game-changing new vehicle bursts onto the scene, you’d usually expect it to make a lot of noise. But back in 2010, that curiously wasn’t the case with one new Nissan model. Why? Because that new model was the all-electric Nissan LEAF, with it’s all-new, zero-emissions, silent powertrain.
Despite the LEAF’s lack of sound, the impact this small car has had is undeniable. In the decade since launch, it has gone on to become one of the world’s most popular EVs and a true trailblazer in the field of electromobility. Indeed, it showed that mass-market EVs could be viable and affordable, and over the years, many people have began embracing the switch to zero-emissions vehicles.
Part of the reason for this is because the benefits of EVs have grown too big to ignore. When LEAF was launched 10 years ago, the level of skepticism around EV technology was much higher than today. But as the facts keep stacking up and the benefits become more tangible, more and more people are choosing to make the switch. This comes as more countries are taking pledges towards neutral carbon footprint, which electric mobility will help reinforce.
